Project Disha has been formed to initiate the much required systemic change. We believe that each child is unique and every child learns differently. They may learn at different paces and have different styles but they all, without a doubt have the capability to learn.

The Goal of Project Disha is to build and disseminate an Assessment Checklist for IEP and a Uniform Curriculum in Special Schools to transform education for Children with Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities (IDD) and provide training for the implementation of the same. The Assessment checklist for IEP and the Curriculum for the age group 3-14 years & 14-18 years are certified by National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Intellectual Disability (NIEPID).

In 2019, we partnered with the Department of Social Justice & Special Assistance - Commissionerate of PwD, Government of Maharashtra in order to roll this out in all special schools in Maharashtra.

We leveraged technology to create a DISHA web-portal which not only enables educators to conduct online assessments and monitor the progress of the students but also gives access to real-time data at different levels - School, District, State - which helps in making informed decisions.

As a part of the Genpact Social Impact Fellowship (GSIF) we have developed and designed a Monitoring & Evaluation system that is easy to use, replicable and scalable in order to track implementation and effectiveness of Project DISHA in special schools.

It is a step towards strengthening the ecosystem by creating common, uniform frameworks and ensuring shared responsibility within special schools working with PwIDDs.
